| First you need
to register with
a car club in your area. A joining fee
usually applies (and a deposit may also be required) which
will allow the club to carry out DVLA checks to ensure you
meet their insurance criteria.
Once registered, you will be
provided with a Smartcard. You are then ready to start
driving. Vehicles can be booked online or over the
phone which you can then pick up at a set time from your
chosen location.
Cars are parked
in set locations and come clean, taxed, serviced
and ready for use.
The Smartcard acts as your key to unlock and enter the vehicle
and begin
driving. Charges vary depending on the provider
you choose, but typically you will pay by the
hour or for a set period depending on the price
structure and your booking.
More frequent users can make additional
savings by paying a small monthly fee and benefiting from
further discounts. Included in your booking will be a
set number of
miles you can travel, with anything additional being charged at a rate per
mile.
Your driving information
such as pick time, return time and miles travelled will be
recorded by an on board computer.
After you have finished using
the car, it is returned to the same reserved parking bay it
was collected from. You will usually be invoiced
monthly for your use.
